Through the study of Pakua Martial Art, a student will develop his physical strength, while learning unique techniques employing pressure points, levers, and more. Pa-Kua teaches the student a better understanding of himself and his surroundings. This is made possible by the non-competitive philosophy whereby the student challenges only himself and his own abilities. Every student will face his or her own limitations and fears during each class, and will have to work to overcome them without comparison to other students. This allows students of any age, or background to practice Pa-Kua Martial Art.
The technical aspect of Pa-Kua Martial Art includes circular movements and the use of an opponent’s strength against himself. A strong emphasis is placed on physical and mental balance, expressed through movements that are both fluid and rigid, strong as well as slow, dictated by the needs of a particular situation. Students learn different aspects of the Martial Art at each belt level, leading them toward a full confidence in their personal skills and abilities upon reaching each successive level and finally the coveted level of Pakua Black Belt.
